Proper Lifting Techniques

  • Work in your "Power Zone" to reduce stress on your muscles and joints. The power zone is the region from your knees to shoulders and right in front of your body where the body has the most power for lifting and carrying tasks

  • Avoid reaching and keep your elbows in near your sides. Work close to the product and table. Reaching increases stress to your arms, neck, and lower back.

  • Down piling is when you keep body facing work area and product close to body. You should always bend at the knees and keep your back straight. This â€‹reduces stress placed on your spine and legs.

  • Get a firm footing

  • Bend at the knees

  • Tighten your stomach muscles

  • Lift with your legs, not your back
